120 Minutes Silver Making Workshop In Sidemen

Description

Surrounded by lush rice terraces and natural countryside scenery, the 90-to-120-minute workshop pairs participants with local Balinese artisans. You learn the fundamentals of metal craft to turn raw silver granules into your own custom ring, pendant, or bracelet to take home as a personal keepsake.

Itinerary

  1. Activity Flow:

  2. 1. (Approx 10 mins) Arrival & Design Choice. Meet the artisan, choose your preferred design, and prepare for the silver-making experience

  3. 2. (Approx 20 mins) Melting & Pouring. Heat pure silver granules in a crucible using a hand torch until molten, then pour the silver into a mold to form a raw ingot

  4. 3. (Approx 25 mins) Shaping & Rolling. Pass the silver through a manual rolling mill and hammer it into a flat strip or wire tailored to your design

  5. 4. (Approx 25 mins) Forming & Soldering. Bend the metal around mandrels, cut it to size, and solder the joints together using appropriate tools under the artisan’s guidance

  6. 5. (Approx 20 mins) Filing & Stamping. Add textures, stamp initial markers or symbols such as moon or sun designs, and file rough edges for a smooth finish
