Amed Snorkeling

Amed is a snorkeling paradise with its clear waters and vibrant coral reefs. The northeast coastline offers easily accessible shore snorkeling sites, perfect for exploring the underwater world. The area is not as touristy as the southern side of Bali, ensuring that the beaches are not overdeveloped and the coral reefs are still in good condition. Snorkelers can enjoy colorful coral gardens, tropical fish, sea turtles, stingrays, reef sharks, and shipwrecks in a safe environment. The best snorkeling spots include the reef in front of Kembali Bungalows at Amed Beach, Jemeluk Bay, Lipah Beach, and the Japanese Shipwreck. These sites are known for their clear waters, healthy coral gardens, and abundant marine life, making Amed a must-visit for snorkeling enthusiasts.

Itinerary

7:30 AM – Meet the guide in meeting point, then go to the snorkeling spot : Stop 1: The Japanese Shipwreck (Banyuning)The Vibe: Start at the furthest point east while visibility is at its peak and before the midday currents pick up.The Snorkel: Walk in right off the rocky beach (water shoes/neoprene booties are highly recommended here). Just about 20–30 meters from shore, marked by black buoys, lies a sunken WWII Japanese patrol boat completely reclaimed by soft corals, fans, and schools of tropical fish. It rests in just 6 to 12 meters of water, making it incredibly clear from the surface. Tip: You can access the beach via local warungs (like Astungkara Warung or Pondok Vienna). Paying a small entry fee or buying a juice often gets you free parking and a place to leave your bags. Stop 2: Lipah Beach (Coral Garden) The Vibe: A short drive back towards town brings you to Lipah. Unlike most of Amed's rocky shores, Lipah has softer black sand, making it a great spot to relax. The Snorkel: Enter the water near Vienna Beach Resort. The bay is well-protected, hosting massive coral macro-structures, blue starfish, and thriving marine life close to shore. If you look closely near the deeper drop-off, you might spot a green sea turtle or a harmless white-tip reef shark. Amed Beach (The Pyramids / Turtle Point) The Snorkel: Head to the main stretch of Amed Beach. Out in the deeper water (5–10 meters) are hollow, concrete pyramid structures placed to foster coral growth. This area is affectionately called "Turtle Point"—keep your eyes peeled, as Hawksbill sea turtles frequently cruise through here to feed.
